Ford Motor’s operations in China generated around $600 million in profits last year, despite difficult market conditions, according to CEO Jim Farley. He expressed his satisfaction with Ford’s profitability in China, highlighting that not many automakers can claim the same. Farley made these remarks after unveiling a vehicle at the Detroit Auto Show.
The earnings in China included revenue from exporting vehicles like the Lincoln Nautilus, which is manufactured exclusively in China for markets such as the U.S. The Chinese market poses challenges for automakers, particularly for western legacy companies like Ford and General Motors.
Although Ford does not disclose earnings by region, Farley has previously emphasized the company’s shifting strategy in China towards being more “asset-light.”
